1990: 1989 Mitsubishi MighyMax p-up. This was a regular cab 2wd truck without power steering or A/C. It was white and I had some chrome rims on it. Was a SHARP truck, especially for a junior in HS. Truck took a beating. Wrecked it three times, didn't fix it the third time. Also went about 30k miles without changing the oil. It had about a 4 qt capacity and only got about 2 qts out. Always run Castrol 20W-50 because that's what my dad said. He wasn't real good on maintenance. Learned after that. Sold the truck with a wrecked front end and about 160k miles in 1994.

1994: 1992 Ford Ranger. Reg cab 2wd 3.0 V6. Had 60k on it and put 60k on it in a year going to paramedic school. Traded in 1995 for...

1995: 1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5S. First new vehicle I ever owned. This jeep would go anywhere, but it was SLOW!! Had a hard top AND soft top with full and half doors. Chicks loved it, especially in PCBeach. Sold it in 1997 with about 50k miles for...

1997: 1994 Toyota p-up. Reg cab 4wd 22re. First of MANY Toyota's. Bought it with about 60k miles on it. About 3-6 weeks later at 66,621 miles the timing chain (not the tensioner) broke. Cost about $1800 to fix and was never the same (burned oil, lower power). Sold it in 2001 with about 150k miles.

2001: 2001 Ford F-150 Supercrew. This truck was loaded with everything. Had the money and wanted to splurge on a FS truck. This (minus my wife's 2000 Ford Taurus) was the WORST vehicle I ever owned. Bad paint when delivered, NUMEROUS trim issues. Sold for a significant loss in 2002 with about 12k miles. This and the Taurus has turned me against Ford.

ALSO in 2001: 1995 Toyota Corolla DX. I loved this car, should have NEVER sold it. It had about 105k miles when bought. It was an automatic (4 speed), couldn't find a 5 speed. It was like a champaigne color. LOVED this car...drove it EVERYWHERE!! Sold in 2002 because I sold the F-150 and bought my first Tacoma. Thought I wouldn't need a gas saver. MAJOR MISTAKE. Bought it with 105k miles for $4000, sold it with about 150k miles and put timing belt and tires on it for $4500 a year later.

2002: 2002 Toyota Tacoma. Extended cab, V6, 4wd TRD. NICE truck. It was Lunar Mist with a 5 speed. Absolutely loved this truck. Sold it in 2004 to buy an identical 4 door/double cab with the addition of my daughter.

2004: 2004 Toyota Tacoma double cab V6 4wd. Nice truck, but hate the auto. Shifts all the time. Wife drove it from April until November when we bought our Sienna.

2004: 2005 Toyota Sienna LE. Absolutely the nicest vehicle I have owned. Nice engine/ transmission. SMOOTH ride and good economy (21-25mpg). Power door, DVD, 8 passenger seating. NICE. Sold the POS Taurus for this. Hope to have this at LEAST 7 years.

I would LOVE to be able to afford another (if I could find one) 1993-1997 Corolla. I love the new ones, but the 93-97 are awesome looking to me. I would love to find a well maintained, 5 speed.

So...not currently a Corolla owner, but DIEHARD Toyota owner. Hopefully in the future I will once again be a Corolla owner.

1990: 1989 Mitsubishi MighyMax p-up. Truck took a beating. went about 30k miles without changing the oil.

Hari H. Chrishna...*30k miles* before an oil change. lmbo

sweet mother of grace that cracks me up, I bet that oil looked like metallic black paint when you changed that mess out. default_laugh

87 Ranger. Became a man with my feet sticking out the passenger side.

92 Eclipse

95.5 Tacoma (bouncy thing with big tires)

98 Mercedes C-Class (there *is* a difference . . was very expensive to maintain tho). Gave to wife

99 F150 - LOVED IT!!

2004 Corolla - bought it for the commute.

my grandfather has had 3 mercedes, 2 c-class/1 m-class and theyve all been problematic and very expensive in upkeep. he bought a prius to save money and he's never been happier. the mercedes c-class hardly ever gets driven now.

My C-class wasn't problematic--but it was very expensive to maintain.

The attention to detail was great, though. From the door latches to the little bolt-holders for the license plate, it gave you that "engineered like no other car" feeling indeed. That car, more than any other I've driven before or since, felt like it was carved from a single block of steel. It felt like a vault underway. It gave you that "go fast" confidence, and the feeling that the car would last forever (if you coudl afford it).

We've since bought a Honda Ody, F150, and now the Corolla that that all feel wobbly by comparison. The Corolla, while very respectable for the price (and much better than every other car I've had except for the C-class), doesn't come close.

1977 - Pontiac Sunbird

1982 - Chevrolet Malibu Classic (company car)

1990 - Mitsubishi Prius (totaled in accident)

1993 - Ford Escort Wagon (hated it)

1997 - Ford Escort ZX2 (great 4 speed, but needed lots of repair)

2004 - 2002 Corolla CE - bought used with 23K miles; excellent car

What is it about Mercedes' that makes them so expensive to maintain and repair? A local garage specializes in repairing and selling older Mercedes-Benz automobiles. I've always been tempted to try a Mercedes diesel, since I just like the idea of a diesel-powered vehicle. Can anyone comment on this, or should I stick to my Corolla?

I'd keep the corolla.

1986 - Tercel wagon 4wd (I wish they still made these)

1989 - Honda civic hatchback (butt scrapin' low)

1996 - Tercel sedan (nice car, totaled)

2000 - VW golf TDI (best car ever)

1998 - Corrolla 154k mi. (girlfriend's car)

Larry,

My future car would be the new Mercedes CDI smart diesel. But Now i'm very happy with my VW TDI. default_tongue Maintenence and repair can be expensive, but I enjoy working on it with some friends. Check out the forums at TDIclub.com you can see what I mean.

These are the cars my parents have owned.

1966 Pontiac Tempest (white) - lots of repairs but to be fair, my parents bought it when it was already ~10 years old

1975 Pontiac Leman (silver) - not as many repairs as the other American and Nissan cars; my dad liked this the most out of the non-Corolla cars

1980? Ford Pinto (red) - lots of repairs and despised by dad

1982 Toyota Corolla default_smile

1986 Chevrolet Cavalier (light blue) - lots of repairs and despised by dad

1996 Nissan Sentra (maroon) - lots of repairs and most disappointing to my dad

1998 Toyota Corolla default_smile

2001 Toyota Corolla default_smile

2002 Toyota Corolla default_smile

Ti-Jean

tracey,

Wasn't that 66 Tempest a Pontiac rather than a Ford?

Max

Yes, the Tempest was a Pontiac. We had a white one, a 1968. Ford does make a Tempest, tho not for sale in the U.S.

Only 19 and already on my 4th car

97 Saturn SL1, auto. seagreen default_dry was OK for a start out, sold it to my brother and now its a POS.

97 Saturn SL2, manual dark blue. fun, but the clutch wasn't too friendly.

01 Saturn SC(3 door), manual dark blue. forgot who said something bout the acceleration, but I agree on it. Dad loved it so, i sold it to him

94 Toyota Corolla DX, auto gold. Dear god, i love this car. Granted it has problems and what not, but with the problems it still has an awesome acceleration. i love this car and dont ever plan to sell it. unless i buy a newer corolla.

you must not have driven a peppy car let alone a fast one to say a corolla has awesome acceleration. lol

thats the first time Ive ever seen anyone say that about a corolla. a cobra maybe but not a corolla.

you say "problems and what not", that sounds like sr on occ if you watch it. that with all his "dodads" and "ideers" too. Im pro mike and anti jr btw. lol

This list is in chronological order and does not include the motorcycles, and recreational vehicles.

88 GM Caviler I really didn't like this car and I don't have anything nice to say about it.

91 Escort GT 5sp. The car had a Mazda 1.8L DOHC engine and is the reason my car list is so short. It stayed in the family and almost lasted 300K miles before the car started falling apart. I drove it till about 250K miles.

92 Galant VR4 Still own it and I'm a addict. It's a neverending project and I can't let it go.

91 Talon TSi 5sp. I still miss it and I wish I didn't let it go. I'm starting to look for another one.

03 Sentra Spec V. Worst new car ever. I traded the Talon in on it and I wish I didn't. I want my Talon back.

05 Corolla LE 5sp. Traded in the lousy POS spec V and it's the best choice I ever made. The Corolla is acually one of my favorite cars. Possible because it the car with the least amount of needs. I want to upgrade some of the peney penching crap from the factory, like the stereo, but other then that, it's a great car.

In order of ownership:

1966 Dodge Coronet convertible - wish I still had

1965 Plymouth (Fury?) - a tank

1979 VW Rabbit - POS

1985 Toyota Supra - great car, wish I still had

1998 BMW M3 - phenomenal car, wish I still had

1997 Acura RL - nice car, just wasn't me

2002 Toyota Tundra - nice truck - still have, for sale

1999 BMW 540i - great to drive but too many problems

2005 Toyota Corolla - still have, trying to decide if it's a keeper

1963 Tan Dodge Dart 270 4-door, auto, 225 Slant 6 - drove like a dream, very nice car, destroyed by an idiot mechanic who drove it into a lift at about 35 mph while doing my state inspection - heartbreaking!

1965 Tan Plymouth Barracuda, auto, 283 V8 - not as nice as the Dart but fun to drive and look at. It had black racing stripes and was big enough in the back to sleep in when I went camping.

1975 Brown Olds Cutlass 2-door, auto, 350 V8 - incredibly heavy doors, impossible to get out of if parked on a slant. Weighed well over 2 tons, had a tiny trunk and difficult back seat access but the front seats swivelled!

1986 Blue Jeep CJ-7, manual, Straight 6 - worst vehicle I have ever driven except the few times I took it seriously off-road, then it was fantastic. Soft top was fun, too.

1993 Tan Ford Club Wagon Van, auto, 300 Straight 6 - 1st new car, bought for cross country trips and camping. Extremely comfortable way to travel with captain's chairs, cruise control, 500+ mile range w/ a 35 gallon gas tank, and a full sized bed in the back but....expensive to operate (though quite reliable). Still own and runs great @ 120K.

2005 Silver Corolla S, auto, 1.8L 4 - Great car, very nice to drive and comfortable on long trips. I wish the A-pillars were thinner and it was less reactive to crosswinds but those are minor points. Love the gas mileage!

(I can't believe I forgot my 1961 Black Chrysler Newport 4-door, push button auto, 383 V8 - which mostly sat beside my house waiting for me to fix it - which never happened. Sold for parts.)

I've had my license for almost 5 years, and here are the cars I've had.

1995 Chrysler Lebaron GTC. It was a beautiful car. White with a black top and interior, the car was totally mint, less than 4k a year put on it, etc. However, it was a Chrysler, and as the electrical system quickly started to go down the tubes, the car also went.

1999 Contour SE Sport. Never liked anything about it. Bought it with 12k, had nothing but problems. It was a really cheap car, not inexpensive, cheap.

1998 Mercury Mystique LS. It was a really nice car, every option except a moonroof, really liked it a lot. Traded it at 80k for my Dads car so my Mom could trade it in on her Rav.

1997 Lincoln Continental. What a boat, nice car, excellent power, but crappy fuel economy. Wasn't exactly something I wanted to drive as a 17 year old.

2005 Corolla LE. First brand new car. Silver, every option except leather, side air bags and stability control. I really like it, it is exactly what I wanted since I custom ordered it. It is nice to have a car that I like to drive that isn't plagued with problems.
