Changing Plastic Headlight Covers

by Bull6791, October 21, 2013

The head lights on my corolla have plastic covers. How do you change the covers when you buy new plastic covers.

I do not see any screws to unscrew them so I guess they just pop out.

Any info on how these plastic headlight covers come off would be helpful.

Thanks

covers? not sure what you mean. what year veh? the whole thing usually gets replaced.

Yup, have to replace the entire assembly on these models. Some, like BMW, actually sell the polycarbonate lamp lenses separate from the reflectors and bulb mounts.

The lens cover just pop out. I know the whole assembly gets replaced. I just do not know how they come out

Thanks

Got it - it is a little involved on this gen. You'll have to remove the front fascia to expose the mounting bolts.

Easiest way is to watch this video -

Thanks for video. I thought you could just replace plastic lens cover. Did not know it was a whole headlight assembly.

Thank

You could "bake" the headlamp assembly and just replace the refractor lens - but that is fairly time/cost prohibitive.

Have to do your best to keep them clear - eventually, they will craze and haze over. Just pull them and replace with new ones.
