Just wondering if i'd need any other harnesses to install a new head unit besides the mounting kit in an 04. are wiring harnesses necessary, or can you pull the stock wiring and put it in the new deck? thanks.

Totally necessary. Be much easier to get a wiring harness than mess with the OEM harness. Most times - there are wires that don't match up - getting a wiring harness keeps your original connector in one piece, don't have to cut it. Good for adding accessories like a powered antenna or remote wire to a amplifier - couldn't do it with the OEM harness.
