I thought this might interest some of you.

I have a 2007 corolla and like many other cars out there it seems, it turns on the A/C when you select defrost. I live in CO and don't need the dehumidifier feature from the A/C, so it bothers me wasting all those MPGs running the AC when all I need is some air blowing across the windshield.

I spent some time looking and wasn't able to find anything out there on how to prevent the AC from turning on when you turn on the defroster so I did it myself. As it turns out it was very easy, requiring only the removal of 1 screw and less than 20 min.

Looks like a fairly simple procedure and could help others.

 

Just remember to undo it if you sell car to someone who wants it to work like before.
