I am replacing my rear struts and my mechanic is telling me I need a four wheel alignment. Is this right or am I getting taken for a ride?
Not a scam - not 100% necessary - but highly recommended.
If you replace something like a strut - the replacement may be slightly different than the original unit (dimension-wise) - that will through off the rear alignment. Even if they scribe around the strut mount and put it back exactly - may still give you that tenth of degree offset to screw up the overall alignment.
