Help On Brakes

Guest TOny1

How do you guys fix "spongy pedals".......new oem pads were installed couple months ago...it wasnt really an issue...but driving mah friends car and mah car....the brake feeling is different.....deres are more..."direct feel"...how do i fix it ?

Sponginess can mean air in the lines that needs to be bled.

Also could mean your rotors were heavily grooved before the pad change and need to be machined or replaced for a good contact with the pads.

Take it to a good technician. Don't mess with your brakes.

P.S. You may need to change the pads again if scored rotors have already chewed them up.

Spngy brake pads can be caused by air in the brake lines, uneven break pad wear and improperly-fitted brake pad backing plates. It can also be caused by misadjusted rear brake drums. If the mechanic took the rear brake drums off to check the pads and didn't readjust it, you're going to get more play in your pedal.
