Well, it doesn't whine all the time.
2001 Corolla, CE, Standard transmission.
Just recently, sometimes second gear, usually third and fourth gear whine. It's not a high pitched whine, kind of a low whine, almost a fluttering type sound. The sound is slightly different if I'm accelerating, than if I'm just maintaining speed. Sometimes, it doesn't seem like it's making the noise. It's kind of hard to hear over the road noise. If I put the clutch in, the whine goes away. the noise does not appear to be related to the RPM.
I'm not a mechanic, but will be arranging for someone to look at it on Monday. I'm just wondering what to be prepared for.
