Find a steap hill to drive down.
Cheap and fast, ya right.....
now_driving_VW
Should of bought the Corolla XRS...
if you do not have the XRS... maybe consider the TRD Supercharger as your first step-- doesn't cheap cheap though
9thgencorolla.com - like minded people
you can use a new header , a new midpipe, new cat, new (or no) resonator and muffler, either 2.25 or 2.5 with custom mandrel piping (or a cat back system) - performancepeddler.com
a new intake - cosmoracing.com
an underdrive pulley for your alternator - ptuning.com (unorthodox racing has a full set I believe)
if you are going to bother with all of that, you might want some type of engine management which will help your engine take full advantage of the above upgrades (with proper tuning).
finally:
if you have more money than you know what to do with, please give your car to Hass Turbo so they can do a kit for the DBW 1ZZ
(or)
maybe someday soon there will be a TRD supercharger for the 05-06.
You really have to define cheap and what is considered decent amount of power. You can easily add 10HP to the car with bolt ons - but only a timing light will be able to tell it is any faster (1/4ET and 0-60, might be 1/10 of a second faster with 10HP gain - maybe more, depends where those extra ponies come from).
Even then, bolt ons will set you back minimum of $500 to $1000, depending of the parts were new or used. TRD S/C would give you the most tangible power gains and still keep the factory warranty for the best price - even that is around $3000+ including install and all necessary tuning.
how about reducing the weight take out the spare tire, back seat, passenger seat, don't fill the gas tank all the way, lose weight yourself... altogether 100 pounds lighter... there's a cheap way to make your car faster
... oh and since you have the 'S' model, you may as well take off the spoiler, bumper extensions and side skirts to save a bit more weight and reduce air drag...
Nos, best bang for the buck.

You bought a COROLLA and you want it to go fast?
What are you smoking?
You could get light wheels and tires this would give your car less unsprung weight . This would increase acceleration and you might get better gas mileage as well. Just a thought
Andrew
ps corollas are about reliability and fuel mileage though.
Topic List: Go to Toyota Corolla, Chevy Prizm (1998-2008)
