  1. I switched over from conventional oil at 75K... I used Mobil 1 EP 5w30. I went from 30mpg to almost 33 mpg.
  2. I have a 2000 Corolla and the full size steel rim and tire fits perfectly into the spare compartment. No problems at all.
  3. I had the EXACT SAME ISSUE on my 2000 Corolla. I also replaced my brakes around 15000 miles ago. It looks like we're in the same boat. The same "irking" noise as I let go of the brake pedal. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but when the weather got 5-10 degrees warmer and I went through the automatic carwash with undercarraige wash... the noise went away. It hasn't made the noise since the carwash and the warmer weather. I'll update you on how it goes. Anyone with any suggestions?
  4. I've owned a 96 and a 2000.... same kinda car.
  5. I have a theory on who Fish is... he knows just about everything about Corollas... and now has open/deep water survival training? He's MacGuyver...
  6. Did you notice a difference in performance with the NGK Iridium IX? Better gas mileage, better acceleration, peppiness? Any noticeable difference from the stock plugs?
  7. ugh.... cars are just getting uglier by the years.
  8. I'm sure God's looking out for you, but it certainly isn't because of the knick knacks you carry in the car. You should try driving around Chicago... it's brutal. The first sign of snow and all the morons come out to play. It's like bumpers cars out here on the morning expressways. Good luck and keep safe.
  9. That's interesting... winter gas... I think they made the switch in the Chicago area almost a month ago. I noticed a small decrease in mpg. How's this for mileage for a 2000 LE... going home from a road trip to Philly... 40.7 mpg.... God I love coasting down the mountains. I usually get about 30mpg, not bad. 50/50 city/highway.
  10. Thanks fish, you're such an asset to these forums. The trans fluid change... isn't 3-4 quarts all of the trans fluid? I thought that was pretty hard to get with just the normal drain and fill. The power steering... how much (%) of the power steering fluid can I get with the turkey baster? Thanks man.
  11. I'm sorry for being a noob, but what is the best way to change the power steering and transmission fluid. I have a 2000 LE automatic.
  12. WINTER GAS? What's winter gas? Is it mixed with antifreeze or something? I've honestly never heard of this.
  13. Thanks for the opinions... I love this forum.
  14. hmm is oil analysis REALLY necessary? I'm feeling frisky... I mean risky. I think I'll be getting a new car in two or three years anyways.
  15. sure, I understand that... I'm going to do it... Mobil 1 5w-30 EP and the EP oil filter. I'll let it go for 10 thousand miles or so. That'll last me 3 or 4 months.
