Spark Plug Valleys

Recommended Posts

He said there was oil in the spark plug valley. I asked if there was oil on the spark plugs he said no and recommended a new valve cover gasket to stop leak.

OK, that is most likely the situation. I would clean up the spark plug wells, clean the exterior of the valvecover really well and observe if it continues to leak. If it does, then change the valvecover gasket.

Or if you believe the mechanic - just change the valvecover gasket. Gasket itself is pretty cheap, overall level of labor should not be that high. Also something that should be well within the reach of a competent DIYer, if you wanted to tackle this yourself.
