Tom Holland Reactions: What the Internet is Saying About His Latest Stunt

Seriously, is anyone else just completely numb to this whole "Tom Holland injured on set" news cycle?  I mean, it feels like every other week we're hearing about this guy taking a tumble while swinging around as Spider-Man.  This time, he apparently cracked his head open during a stunt. Cracked his head.  Sounds dramatic, right?

    Hospital Drama or PR Stunt?

And yeah, the internet is predictably losing its collective mind. Again.  I think I saw some headline screaming "HOLLAND RUSHED TO HOSPITAL!"  Rushed?  Give me a break.  Probably more like a leisurely stroll to the nearest private clinic. I mean, the dude was at a swanky charity event with Zendaya, like, the next day.  Looking dapper in a tux, no less.  So, rushed to the hospital, my foot.

Then again, maybe I’m being too cynical…  Nah.

    "Precaution" or Just Damage Control?

"Out of precaution." That's the phrase I keep seeing.  "Holland is taking a break from filming out of precaution." It's the kind of empty PR-speak that makes me want to throw my laptop across the room.  Precaution?  Or, you know, maybe he actually got hurt and needs time to recover?  Are you seeing this pattern too?  It's always this sanitized, corporate language designed to downplay anything that might, God forbid, affect the precious production schedule.

The Internet's Burning: And Tom Holland's Injury Is Just More Kerosene

Tom Holland Reactions: What the Internet is Saying About His Latest Stunt

And don't even get me started on the internet's reaction.  I was scrolling through… I think it was Twitter? Or maybe Reddit?  Whatever. The point is, people are actually arguing about whether or not this will delay the movie.  As if that's the most important thing here! A guy potentially got a concussion, and these keyboard warriors are worried about their precious superhero flick. It happened… last week?  Something like that.  The date's not really important.  The stupidity is timeless.

Speaking of stupidity...  Just yesterday, my internet went out right in the middle of a… well, never mind.  It's a long story. But the point is, the internet is basically a garbage fire most of the time.  And this whole Tom Holland injury thing?  Just more fuel for the flames.

Back to Spidey.  Someone – I forget who – was quoted saying Holland was hesitant to start filming this fourth movie because he wanted it to "live up to expectations."  "Live up to expectations?" Please.  These movies are cookie-cutter cash grabs. They're entertaining enough, I guess. But let's not pretend they're high art.  This whole superhero industrial complex is… I mean, just forget it.

    ## The Ryder Rant

This whole thing stinks.  It stinks of corporate PR, it stinks of internet idiocy, and it stinks of our collective obsession with these manufactured heroes.  Yeah, I said it.  Manufactured.  They're not real. They're carefully crafted products designed to sell toys and tickets.  And we eat it up.  Every. Single. Time.  And somewhere, some studio exec is laughing all the way to the bank, while Tom Holland nurses his… whatever.  Maybe it's a concussion, maybe it's not.  Frankly, I don't care anymore.  I'm just tired of the whole charade.  So yeah, get well soon, Tom. Or don't.  Whatever.  The movie will still come out.  The world will keep spinning.  And I’ll be here, ranting into the void.  Because what else can I do?
