After a severe earthquake in Japan which disrupted the power grid, Toyota will be stopping three assembly plants and some parts factories, because parts will be unavailable. This will affect all Toyota and Lexus carlines in Japan, other than Toyotas made by Daihatsu. A transmission plant had been without power since September 6 and remains dark.
North America may be largely unaffected. Most Toyotas sold in the US are built in North America, though many use Japanese parts including, in some cases, engines and transmissions.
