Knock Sensor Problem Cel 0328 In 2004 Corolla

by elopomorph, October 16, 2016

I have a 2004 Toyota corolla and my check engine light came on. The code is P0328. From reading pasts posts it looks like the first think I should do is make sure it is properly connected. Sounds like knock sensors rarely fail so any problems are likely due to wiring problems.

I also think I can test the knock sensor with a volt meter to see the resistance. If I understand things correctly when I test the sensor and if I get any resistance (Ohms) then the sensor is bad. The Ohms should be zero. I will have to figure out the positive and negative wires of the sensor, or does that not matter when testing resistance.

Any advice, recommendations, or insight into my methods would be greatly appreciated. All of my knowledge comes from pasts posts and youtube videos, so please pass along any other information. Thanks.

Remove knock sensor and measure its resistance between terminals. It should be between 120 K? and 280 K? at 20ºC (68ºF)
