Does anyone know the the basic structure of the ignition coil in the 2003/2004 Corollas.

I had to replace the ignition coils in both my 95 civic and my 78 celica so I'd like to prepare for it to fail eventually in my 2004 corolla as well - but not for a while. Both times it failed at about 120k miles.

In the civic it's part of the distributer. In the celica it was a separate unit mounted to the firewall.

anybody know where it is in the corollas. I found some info online that sort of suggests that there may be multiple ignition coils?

Thanks

At least on the 2005 1ZZFE engine, its coil on plug. I'd look for the telltale old style sparkplug wires. IF you have em, then there's a coil pack somewhere. If not, then each plug has its own coil.

2000 Dak

2002 Suzuki had coil on plug ignitions

Yup - Toyota-san is right - the 2000+ Corollas with 1ZZ-FE engines are coil/igniter on plug. Four separate units fired off by the ECU. I'd quite surprised if they didn't hold up for some time - although - anything is possible.

Good Luck.
