Leaking Power Stearing Fluid

Guest Bobby

Hello. I have a small (hopefully small) problem. My power steering fluid is either leaking or is being used up very quickly. I have to refill it about twice a month. I usually notice that it is low when I turn the wheel and hear the high pitched noice. When I fill it up, its fine. The car is has over 100,000 miles on it and I was just wondering what I could check first. Thanks for any information.

Adding twice a month means you have a serious leak, possibly faulty hoses, that will require some repairs. It is rather costly, but you can get the hoses from any AutoZone or Advanced Parts shops - they are cheap. Job is within DIY range, but I not easy due to the fact that most of hoses are hard to reach.

You might ask your friend to turn wheels left and right while you look under the hood for leaks.
