Safe Fuel Injector Cleaner For 2003?

by bhp02, April 8, 2008

can you guys recommend any safe ones for the fuel addivtive for cleaning the

injectors ??

thanks

Most of the "pour" into the tant variants are pretty safe - most are an alcohol/kerosene based solvent. Some have other "ingredients" - but basically some solvent with a lubricant mixed together. If the injectors are really clogged, then you have to run the cleaner straight into the fuel log feeding the injectors. But of the add to gas tank bottles, the only ones that I've used that seemed to have any tangible results afterwards were:

- Redline fuel injector cleaner (can be tough to find, but really works well)

- Chevron with Techron injector cleaners

- Lucas fuel injector cleaner (Tune-up in a bottle I think)

- Valvoline Synpower stuff (not as good as the others, but usually pretty cheap)

- BG products (found at many dealerships, can get pricey but works pretty well)

Used to use Gumout Regane (the truck one) and Marvel Mystery Oil cocktail on my older carburated cars - really cleans them up on the inside, better than Seafoam.

I second Redline. Pep boys carries it. Gumout Regane is very good too, and is easier to find.

Seafoam

you can get bg on ebay. I use that or lucas ,but techron is good too. stay away from stp, gumout , and the alcohol based solvents. they really do not clean very well.
