Mirrors From Bmw 2002

by texasrolla, November 30, 2006

I saw a BMW 2002 at the junkyard, and it has a set of sweet, sweet mirror that looks like

this:

It mounts on the door slightly behind where our stock mirror go. Has anyone install this

type of mirror on their Rolla? I think it would look so good, adds a touch of class to our

Rollas.

I've seen those on older Corollas - but would look a little weird on the last three generations (cars are too jellybean shaped). Probably would look good on the 6th gen and older.

Judging by the feel of the 2002 and the 'Rolla, I think the sheet metal on

the 'Rollas is much thinner than the 2002. I would probably need to reinforce

the door with extra sheet metal inside the door; otherwise, the mirror might

flap around.

Sweet! I miss my old 2002...

Too much $$ to maintain though... so it had to go...

sorry, off topic isnt it...

You could have your stock mirrors removed and then silver plated. They may not be stainless steel, but they may look similar (at least they are sure to fit).

I'm sure getting anything plated would cost too much for my budget.

My 'Rolla is just a cheap beater that I want to do stuff I wouldn't

normally do to a newer car, like cutting up the body. The 2002

mirrors will probably not cost more than 10 bux, so I might give it a go

for fun's sake. I'll be sure to post some pics if I do have a go at it.

I would bet that they cost a lot more than 10.
