Chain.

thank you for your reply.

Do I need to change a timing chain sometime?

Max

The chain should last the life of the car.

Supposed to last the life of the car - but it also depends on other factors - driving style, driving conditions, engine history, etc.

Some have mentioned that the service manual recommends a change or at the very least inspection at around 100K mile mark. Things that could go at the time would be the chain being stretched out due to wear, chain guides worn, or the chain tensioner getting stuck and not "ratcheting" correctly. All of which could lead to timing failure and possibly catastrophic engine damage.
