Welcome to Corolland. Looks like a very nice car. Must have great sounding music as well. I have seen hood deflectors (bra) on cars and don't like how they look after they come off. Around here with so much sun the color of the paint changes and when you take the bra off it will be a different color. They do deteriorate after a while. You must drive a lot if you have that many miles in such a short time.

Hood deflectors aren't bras. The deflector is made of hard plastic and doesn't touch the paint, unlike a bra, which indeed sits on the paint and makes a mess. Deflectors are made for deflecting rocks and other debris up and away from the hood and windshield, while bras are...ya know...I don't know what purpose they serve other than making a car look ugly while they're on, and even worse when they are taken off!

Good clarification of the distinction between deflectors and bras. How is the deflector fastened on and does it affect things like aerodynamics (wind resistance) and gas mileage?

It is fastened by screws and 3M tape underneth the hood.

No reasonable gas mileage difference before/after I had it installed.

Usually get 43/44 mpg (mostly highway) in Canadian terms. I think that's 35/36 US mpg.

When I go to work, I drive 120 miles round trip, but it's a very reliable car.

Just had a wheel bearing replaced at the dealership (under warrenty).

Other than than, no problems. default_smile.png

Put Michelin Harmony tires on about 15000 km ago, very smooth on the highway.

I'm happy! default_smile.png

Thanks for the mounting description.

Glad to hear we have another happy Corolla owner. We have some on this website that have had both good and bad experiences with their cars and with dealers.

I try to share my experiences with others and definitely appreciate those that can contribute.

Welcome!

Where can I get a hood deflector like yours?

I got mine at a car accessories store in my city.

They have them at the dealership too but they are more expensive.

I will check around to see what kind of a deal I can find.
