  1. My mechanic informs that my Corolla both axles (right and left) need to be replaced. Recently my Corolla had the 4 wheels alignment service (but the alignment service warranty has expired) and the tires are wearing evenly. Is alignment service necessary after replacing the axles? Thanks, 1999 Corolla (US version) 180K miles

  3. ATF

Would this type of ATF fluid be compatible on my corolla automatic transmission? Here is the link: https://www.pennzoil.com/en_us/products/other-oils-fluids-fuel/automatic-transmission-fluids/platinum-lv-multi-vehicle.html#iframe=L3NvcHVzL3Blbm56b2lsLzIwMTZuZXdzbGV0dGVyLz9sb2NhbGU9ZW5fdXM= Thanks, 1999 Corolla CE 180K miles
  4. I’m wondering if my power steering pulley need to be replaced. I tighten the screw on the PS pulley and change the PS fluid and it is still making the clattering noise especially when the engine has warmed up. What is the procedure on replacing the power steering pulley? Can I still replace the PS pulley without removing the power steering unit on the car? Any recommendation where I can buy the pulley besides going to the dealer? Thanks 1999 Corolla (164K miles)
  5. Motor Oil

My 1999 corolla now has 150K miles and I always use conventional motor oil. When changing oil, I always put in 4 quarts of oil and get close to 4 quarts of old oil when draining it on the next oil change. Since the engine is not burning oil, do you recommend I switch to synthetic oil?
  6. Are all conventional motor oils (e.g. Quaker State, and etc.) made from recycled oil? I am informed this is the reason why we should use synthetic oil. Any thoughts?
  7. I just bought a set of new tires and then found out that the tires were made on 0215. Correctly me if I wrong, is that mean the tires were made on the second week of January 2015? If so, in general is it acceptable for tire shop to sell tires to customer that are 11 months old? Any thoughts & opinions on Falken Ziex tires?
  8. Just brake fluid flush and no brake part replacement. Will the click increase on the emergency parking brake handle when the brake’s pad & shoe wear down?
  9. Last weekend I brought my corolla to an auto shop for brake fluid flush and after flushing the fluid, my car’s emergency parking brake handle now required only 1 click to set the brake on. Two clicks will be too tight to release the parking brake handle. Would there be any issues if my car emergency parking brake handle is now set to only 1 click? I want to make sure that the auto shop flushed the brake fluid correctly by not getting air into the brake system. Is there a way I can tell from my car’s brake system whether there is air in the brake system?
  10. According on this article http://www.nytimes.com/2014/06/24/business/international/honda-nissan-and-mazda-join-recall-over-faulty-air-bags.html, “the [Takata] manufacturer had also failed to keep adequate records of quality control, making it difficult to identify vehicles with potentially defective air bags and prompting a second round of recalls.” My Corolla is not on the recall list but it is the same generation as the 2002 Corolla which is on the recall list. I’m trying to find out whether my Corolla airbag has the same manufacture and part as the 2002 Corolla airbag and I agree owners should not be encouraged on pulling the airbags themselves. So far Toyota has not been able let me know if my Corolla has the Takata airbags. Very disappointing.
  11. How do I find out who was the manufacturer that manufactured my Corolla front (driver & passenger) airbags? How do I look up my Corolla OEM airbag part numbers? __________________________ 1999 Corolla CE (North America)
  12. Is it okay to use automatic transmissions fluid type Dexron III H / mercon on my Corolla power steering and automatic transmission or I need to stick with atf Dexron III / mercon? Thanks, _________________________ 1999 Corolla CE 4 speeds auto transmission
  13. My 1999 Corolla CE comes with OEM hubcaps and black steel wheels. I don’t like the hubcaps and plan on removing them from the wheels. Instead I prefer the look of my Corolla with the stock black wheels. Where can I get aftermarket wheel center caps for the wheels? My Corolla has open end wheel lugs and I want to replace them with the close wheel lugs like the 1998-2000 Corolla VE. If I am looking for aftermarket close wheel lugs, what size should I be looking for? How do I remove the stubborn brake dust on the wheels without damaging the black coated paint? I’m on budget and I’ve been checking out ebay and online but want to see if someone can suggest a place or website where I can get better prices. I’m unable to find the replacement parts from the auto junk yard. Thanks,
  14. Atf

My Corolla is a 1999 4spd auto transmission (US version) and the power steering container is a little low. Do I use Dexron III ATF to refill it? If so, can I use Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc ATF to refill the ps container? http://www.valvoline.com/products/brands/maxlife/automatic-transmission-fluid/37
  15. I ordered my new gasket Dom recommended. The new valve gasket comes with 2 detached grommets. Do those 2 new grommets go between the 2 bolts (next to the spark plug holes) and top of the valve cover? Thanks,
