2001 Corolla Alternator Fuse Issue

By soonercc, March 1, 2015

Hi. My daughter has a 2001 Toyota Corolla. The 100a FL ALT fuse apparently went out (the top of the fuse was melted). When I went to replace it, the fuse would not come out. I ended up breaking the fuse trying to remove it - it broke into pieces. However, the two metal prongs of the fuse will not budge. I'm not sure why they won't come out. Any ideas? Could it have "welded" itself inside of the fuse box??

any electronic contact cleaner that is safe for plastic may loosen it up.....

any solvent of the corrosion that evaporates quickly and does not affect plastic may help...

but I have no idea...do not use wd40...

Don't remember off the top of my head, but a couple of those fuses are bolted to the bottom of the fuse assembly. Might have to take a couple of bolts off the mounting bracket to help you turn it enough to see if they bolted in from behind.
