Just wondering if anyone would know what would be the cause of sudden loose/unbalanced steering. I've had my 2001 Corolla for 3 years with no problems....then all of a sudden, since a few days ago, my steering feels noticibly loose. Any suggestions?
I'd suspect the steering gearbox assembly may require tightening/adjustment of the gears, apparently due to the slack suddenly appearing as opposed to gradual degradation over time. My better half's '98 has never had this happen to her, although I'm not saying it's impossible for it to occur.
Without being able to visually inspect the problem I can only offer an educated guess based on my experience, since I'm not a mechanic and never professed to be one. Get this checked by a professional ASAP.
