My owners manual says coolant should be flushed at 100K miles.. Is that really necessary if i have not had any problems with the engine over heating.

Yes.

I don't think you know what old coolant destroys, water pumps (ouch!), heater cores (ouch!), and a boatload of seals! Most people know about what not changing the oil does, coolant is second, as it causes automotive cancer.

Yes.

 

Coolant used to be changed every 2 years with the previous Toyota coolant.

This long-life coolant is a great improvement and has saved owners a lot of money by safely extending the change interval.

Please be sure to change it with Toyota long-life coolant. Then, my manual says to use 50K mile change intervals as the car ages.

Please do not overlook this vital service.
