Shifts out of overdrive to nuetral ( A 245 E ) . O/D light flashes . Replaced the Vehicle Speed Sensor . Lasted about 250 miles , then started to do it again . Any ideas ?

Could be a number of things - most likely a shorted or damage wire somewhere. The 4-speed transaxle is electronically controlled. If it jumps out of O/D, likely there is a problem with one of the solenoids not wanting to switch off or the signal wiring not getting back to the PCM.

Curious - was the VSS damaged previously, and that's why you changed it the first time around? Does the car have ABS? Have you pulled the trouble codes from the PCM - flashing O/D should indicate stored or pending trouble codes. Should be able to read them by jumpering the TE1 and E1 diagnostic pins on the diagnostic port under the hood. Then count the number of flashes to find out what code you are seeing. The was made in the switch over point from OBD-I and OBD-II - should make some mention of what it uses on a sticker under the hood.
