I've heard someplace that the motor cannot handle the strain of turboocharging. I think a supercharger is supposed to work better and give a much broader powerband which will match the fairy wide gear ratios.
Well, that all depends on what turbo you are throwing in there. Any engine can handle a turbo, its just the size of the turbo and how much boost you run throught that matters. Same goes with Supercharger.
You could go turbo on the stock internals, but its really not recommended for 2 reasons. 1) it would be very hard on the engine. 2) With the 10:1 compression the boost would only be around the 3-5psi range. I've seen a turbo'ed Corolla, but with forged JE rods/pistons, copper gasket, etc etc.
