Any Guides Showing How To Clean Throttle Body?

by Jglitch, May 7, 2007

As the title said. Any help will do...

I have 98'Rolla VE or if someone is willing to do it for me for free. I'm from Toronto.

Thanks in advance.

I just remove the air intake hose, using a flat screwdriver to loosen the clamps. Then I clean the throttle plate and bore with intake system cleaner, a toothbrush and rags. You have to open the throttle by hand to get in there. There's nothing to it. Does anybody here remove the throttle body, or clean any little side passages or anything?

When I cleaned mine, I took it out completely and used cleaner, a rag, and a little brush to get every passage in there. Mine was still pretty clean and the carb cleaner got what little there was in there, so the brush wasn't really necessary, nor was taking the whole thing apart. I suppose if you're having really bad problems it would be worth taking out and giving it a thorough cleaning. I hear you sometimes have to get a new gasket, but that's about it.
