Connection Tail Light Bulb Problem

by dnevitable1, February 26, 2007

The connection to my tail light bulb was bad. I checked and it had orange (rust?) in between. I was wondering if I can clean that orange junk out with WD40 or would it mess up my connection? do you guys recommend any type of cleaner?

use a nail file, then lightly wipe a little wd40 in there.

I wouldn't recommend oil on electrical connectors. You could get some dielectric cleaner and use that.

Also check your bulb contact points to make sure they are not rusted or flattened.

Do not use WD40. It will leave a film.

Use Electric Motor Cleaner (sometimes called Contact Cleaner). Let it dry, then fill the female end with dielectric grease and plug the connections in.

Don't use WD-40 or any oil for electrical connections. Use it for lubrication, not to remove rust or corrosion.
