Is that a Pinto?

Hello Mark! Welcome to the forum, and I hope you get your Corolla soon!

To answer texasrolla's question, Mark's car looks like a Euro-spec Ford Escort to me, though I couldn't guess at the model year. It may even be the model which is just above the Escort, although I can't remember what it is called.

Help us out here, Mark -- give us the full details on that car. Also where are you from, what do you do, etc.

It most certainly is not a Pinto, it isn't even a US Spec car.

I grew up immersed in Ford culture, and I am about 99% certain that that vehicle is a late 1980's Ford Sierra Sapphire 5 door.

The Sierra was sold in almost every country in Europe, and it was the next higher car in the model lineup form the Escort.

The Sierra was built until 1992 when it was replaced by the Ford Mondeo, code named the CDW27, which we had a version of in the US. However, our CDW27 didn't arrive until September of 1994 as a 1995 model, and when it got here, it was a flop compared to the Mondeo.

Anyone care to guess what that car was?

It was the Ford Contour / Mercury Mystique.

Welcome to the board.

Get rid of the Ford and get yourself a nice Corolla!

Contour: You guessed it. The Sapphire was the model I was thinking of.

Mark: Here's a second to what Bike just said. Lose the Ford, mate! Get a Corolla, and you'll never regret it!
