Front Speaker Replacement

By Guest dave5647, May 13, 2004

I'm looking to replace the stock speakers in my '98 Corolla LE. I believe the stock speaker size in the front door is 5.25"?

I was able to remove the door trim panel and take a look- it looks like the stock speakers are riveted in place, and I will need a custom adapter plate to replace them.

Anyone have any experience / advice with this?

They probably are 6" to 6.5" speakers - depending on where you measure from.

Unfortunately - most of the Toyota OEM front door installs are riveted in place. You could just remove the driver and mount a replacement speaker - or drill out the rivets and use a universal driver plate.

Same goes for the rears - but they are ususaly just bolt on adapter plates from the OEM with cardboard / foam seal.

You may want to checkout the various online vendors like crutchfield or similar. They may have adapter plates to fit the bill or have something else you can use.

Good Luck.
