This morning I bought a run around 1984 4 speed manual corolla. It goes ok except it was idling pretty high (dunno how much but id say around 2000 rpm). This afternoon my bf put in some oil (he told me hw knew wat he was doin), I worked out all together he put like 7 litres in .. when he started it he said the idle was ok and normal but when he took it for a drive the whole street was covered in smoke. He then undid the bolt on da sump and let it all run out. He then put 2 litres in and took it for a drive around the block a few times. He said that there was still smoke but not as bad. How long will it take for the smoke to go away? How much oil do these things normally take? I had almost no oil to begin with, could this explain the high idle?
