Had Some Free Time Today....

by Louisville Slugger March 17, 2005

Looking pretty sharp there, Slugger! Wanna do mine next?

How close are you from MA?

lol....

I would do it!

I am doing my friend's Lincoln Continental tomorrow.

LoL, u sure got alot of free time.

Hate to rain in on the cleaning (and quasi-obsessive photographic) parade, but it appears the headlight is not flush with the side marker lamp. Strike, Slugger!

But to be fair, you can fry eggs on the car and eat 'em off it.

As the Romans used to say: 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'.

tinto99:

I see what you mean, but in fairness to Slugger, the headlight adjustment (assuming it is done correctly) may result in the front surface of the headlamp assembly not being in exact alignment with the adjacent side marker light. I'd be a bit more concerned by the fact that the surface of the headlamp lens seems a bit oxidized. I don't know what you would do about that, perhaps a light going over with some super fine polishing compound on a very damp rag might clear it up.

word to the wise , next time you decide to photograph your vehicles, take off or cover the license plates. We now know at least the make and model and plate of the Lincoln .

Ti-Jean

Good work slugger,

Still a fair amount of snow in Mass.?

Yea... there is still a fair amount of snow.

Nice job, Slugger.

Good to get the car all shined up for the new spring season!

petlow,

Looking at your car, you're in Canada somewhere?

How do you like your car. Mine is identical, but blue.

Pretty spiffy looking Town Car after your ministrations, Slugger. Ever thought of going into the detailing business? You seem to have a talent for it. If nothing else, it could be a profitable side gig whatever your day job ends up being.

What's that schmutz on the left corner of the rear bumper? A bit of parking lot rash? Your friend should consider getting that fixed. Although minor, it spoils the overall impact of an otherwise sharp looking automobile.

Your photos are excellent! What kind of digital camera are you using? I have a Sony DSC P100, 5.1 megapixels, and it's fabulous, albeit a bit too small to hold properly by hand. When I put it on a small tripod, it takes photos every bit as sharp as my Canon 35 mm. SLR.

My friend got his car from an old lady for a great price. It's a '97 and he got it for around $6,000 I think. It only has like 40,000 miles on it or something. I think she had a little accident though.

I use a Canon Powershot G3. I am currently a photographer for a newspaper (The Community Advocate). It's a job I enjoy, and sometimes I don't realize I am working. default_smile Cleaning has just been my other job I do best:

That's my room. I keep it like that most of the time.

More recent photo.

Also I made a video of me revving the engine higher than I normally do when I shift. I was bored -- Never knew I could do so much with two hands:

Your room is WAY too clean! You're a sick man, Slugger! :-)

BTW I can't post any photos of my apartment because it usually results in calls from the Health Department.

BTW -- where did you get that computer workstation? It's really neat! I'm moving from an apartment to a house soon, and I'd like to try something like that!

Sorry about not getting back to you sooner Larry. I am very busy this week. Okay, the desk I have is a:

Z-Line Eclipse Mobile Computer Workstation

I got it at Staples obviously.

Thanks for the info, Slug. I'll hit the local Staples and czech it out.

Sometimes they have sales and it's cheaper then. Look at the ads in the paper. They'll usually tell you. default_smile

Staples usually spams my mailbox with it's monthly sales flyer. However, I just noticed The Z-line workstation has a feature I don't care for, namely the fact that the monitor ends up being significantly higher than the keyboard. I don't like looking up at my monitor. In my present setup, the keyboard and monitor (a 17" Dell flat panel) sit on the same table at the same level. That's more or less perfect for me. So, I guess that particular workstation isn't going to be my cup of Earl Grey after all. Thanks for the info anyway.

Nice job, Slugger.

Ti-Jean,

I am in Toronto, Ontario. I really like my car thus far. I had a 1999 Corolla CE (5spd, cruise, power door locks) but totalled it last summer when someone ran a red light. It had 322,000 km on it and was still running great, though was using oil more often. But after over 300,000 km I could understand why, and it didn't owe me anything.

As for this new one, it took a bit of getting used to, being larger. Also, I had to get used to the gear shifting and clutch set up. But generally speaking Toyota clutch set ups are usually quite good. I am getting very good fuel mileage, similar to my previous Corolla. That being said, it is an improvement especially since it is a bigger car. One thing I do miss is the variable intermittent wipers. My old Corolla had this feature where you can vary the intermittent wipe cycle. This new car does not, only a medium, high, and one fixed intermittent cycle. If you wanted variable intermittent wipers then you'd have to get the LE version, however that model only comes in automatic transmission.

Overall, I really like this car and hope to keep it for several years....and pray it doesn't die a 'tragic death' like my '99 Corolla. All the best with your CE!
