I hope someone can help me. How do I find the insurance company name with a policy number? I was involved in an accident and we exchanged information. When I got home, I went online and the insurance name is not listed.
Here's the information I got from the other driver.
California Auto Insurance
Policy No. AX01457646
thanks,
BTW, the accident was in southern California.

In Oklahoma, the Security Verification Form (insurance card) has the insurance company and policyholder's name on it, as well as the year, make, model, and VIN of the insured vehicle. I would assume that the related form in California would have similar information. Look at your OWN insurance card and see if maybe the one the other driver showed/gave you appears to be legitimate-- if it's missing information that yours displays, it might be a fake form. Notify the police if that seems to be the case.
If it's real, the AX0 (or AXO) portion of the policy number may indicate that this is one of those "high-risk" insurance policies, like "1-800-Safe Auto" would carry.
You may also need to go to the California Department of Insurance website (http://www.insurance.ca.gov/) and submit a help request.
