Hi,
This is a new one for me, so I'm asking for help.
Yesterday, I was driving normally and suddenly the airbag light went on. It stayed on for the remainder of the trip, but did not come back in the next couple of short trips. I guess only Toyota dealership can troubleshoot this, right? If the light does not come back, can I assume the airbag works?
Has anyone had problems with this?
Thanks.

BTW, it's a 2003 model with 64,000 miles.

No light showed up in the last couple of days. I guess it was a random connection/electric noise thing?

Intermittent stuff is a tough one. I'd still try and get the trouble code pulled, pretty sure the 9th gen Corolla codes can be pulled just like the 8th gen Corolla, via the built-in diagnostic (short pins on the diagnostic port, Tc and E1 are the typical ones) and read off the number of flashes from the SRS indicator lamp.

Update: the light came back and it's steady now. Will do the diagnostic test.

I pulled the codes this weekend and there are 2 codes: #52 and #31. Looks like AIRBAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER
MALFUNCTION (#31) according to the manual or passenger airbag or wiring problem (#52). I need to do some more troubleshooting according to the manual, but how do I get to the center sensor? It's supposed to be somewhere in the center console, in the front to the tranny shifter. Anyone?

After some troubleshooting by the book, it is a problem with the center sensor. $300 new, $50 used. The access to that is limited, but it's possible to reach it from sides and through removable plastic panel surrounding the shifter.
